Donate today to help us illuminate LOVE, LIFE, & ART in Downtown Bay City! Your donations help maintain the beautiful lights of the Third Street Star Bridge, and help our community honor and remember those who are the lights of our lives.
On June 18, 1976, the Third Street swing bridge connecting the East and West sides of Bay City, Michigan, collapsed, leaving commuters stranded. In 2016, the Third Street Star Bridge was established by Avram Golden, owner of Golden Gallery on Third Street. Avram was thinking of a way to honor the light of his life, his brother Ari. In his own words, Avram says: “I love the idea of light. Light illuminates the darkness. Light is also a way to describe a special person. We all have people in our lives that have been a ‘light’ to use, and I wanted to find a way to embody that idea.” Each light of the Third Street Star Bridge represents those who are a light in our lives, matched with a commemorative plaque on the street below. Today, the Star Bridge has created an outdoor environment drawing visitors to our Downtown community. Make a donation and “wish upon a star” today to help maintain this beautiful project and honor the lights of our lives.
